Wade Phillips to Coach Dallas Cowboys

Wade Phillips According to a source, Wade Phillips will be the next head coach of the Dallas Cowboys. There really aren’t any details, so I’ll try to keep this post updated as news comes in.

ESPN’s Chris Mortenson confirms…

League and Cowboys sources have told ESPN’s Chris Mortensen that Chargers defensive coordinator Wade Phillips will be named Dallas’ head coach. Phillips traveled from San Diego to Dallas on Wednesday night after being told that he was their choice to replace the now-retired Parcells.

Phillips has a winning track record as a head coach, going 29-19 with the Bills and taking them to the playoffs in 2 out of 3 seasons. Norv Turner, on the other hand, has a 58-82-1 career record. Rumors are also that Jerry wanted Jason Garrett to call the offensive plays, and Norv Turner did not want to give up control. I am personally happy with the hire.

UPDATE 11:45 AM: Jerry is still being tight-lipped, but rumors are that Phillips was making phone calls last week to begin putting together a staff. I wonder what Ron Rivera (Who interviewed this week) thinks about that.
