Dallas Cowboys Release Terrell Owens

According to ESPN.com, the Dallas Cowboys have released Terrell Owens.  I’m not sure if I’m on-board with this or not, but the Cowboys definitely need to do something this off-season to improve the attitude/chemistry of the team.  I guess we’ll find out if Roy Williams can step up and be a #1 wide receiver.

Speaking of Roy Williams, when will they release the Roy Williams the safety?

Football Storylines

A quick rundown of the questions that will be answered about the teams near and dear to fld’s heart:

1) Will the Cowboys make the playoffs?

2) Will the Frogs make the BCS?

3) Will the Irish make a bowl game?
3a) Will the Irish win a bowl game?

4) Will the 2008 Aggies equal the 2007 Irish’s 3-9 record?

Weigh in. Will add a jump soon.

The Pacman Scenario

Ed Werder from ESPN clarifies the safeguards the Cowboys have in place should Adam Jones be suspended by the NFL for his most recent off-the-field misbehavior:

The Cowboys sent a 2008 fourth-round pick to Tennessee and a 2009 fourth-rounder to acquire Jones this offseason. But the Titans had to give up a 2009 fifth-round selection if Jones missed any games because of a suspension.

Because in the NFL no team had ever traded for a player serving a suspension, the Cowboys made a fourth-round 2009 draft choice included in the trade conditional upon Jones being available to play the entire season if healthy.

At the time, the Cowboys were protecting themselves against the possibility Jones might not be reinstated for the beginning of the season, as well as addressing concerns that any misbehavior could result in disciplinary measures that would take him off the field.

I Guess We Can Call Him Pacman Again

Seriously, how can a guy be this stupid?

Cowboys cornerback Adam Jones placed his status with the NFL in jeopardy by getting involved in an altercation early Wednesday morning at a Dallas hotel.

According to Dallas police, Jones hit his bodyguard, Tommy Jones, at the Joule hotel. The bodyguard, police said, declined to press charges.

Let me get this straight.  You were reinstated about 2 months ago after a 1 year suspension.  Your career could be ended with 1 more incident, and you get in a fight with your own bodyguard?  So much for changing your ways.

Also, as Troy Aikman pointed out this morning, what does this say about your bodyguard?  Isn’t the bodyguard supposed to be a person that everyone fears, and nobody wants to mess with?

I’m still not against the Cowboys trading for him.  If he screws up again, they really aren’t out anything.  It would just go down as a failed experiment.

I Actually Feel Sorry For Terrell Owens

I gotta say, I agree with T.O. The media is just killing him. Before the Eagles MNF game, they played an interview. It was obvious that he was being asked questions, but they were only showing his responses, not the questions being asked. They showed a clip where he was clearly asked about his relationship with McNabb. He answered it very well, not really criticizing McNabb, but still telling part of the story.

They cut back to the studio, and Keyshawn starts ripping T.O. because he won’t let go, and he is still talking about McNabb. Dude, when you ask a guy about McNabb, he is obviously going to talk about McNabb! It only makes it worse that the criticism comes from the one of the worst team players in the history of the NFL, who happened to be cut because of the arrival of T.O. I wish that someone would call him out one day. Honestly, how does this guy become the expert on how to be a team player?

Now, they are blowing T.O.’s comments about wanting the ball more out of proportion. Every great receiver wants the ball more!!! Did he complain when he got 2 catches in a win? No. He complained after a loss.

I hate to be a T.O. apologist, but it has been driving me crazy.

There goes the neighborhood

This was literally true for many Arlington property owners who found themselves “eminent-domained” out of their homes to make way for JerryWorld. But hey, let’s hope the “White House” is still standing, because Pacman Jones is coming to town!

I’m not sure I can root for the Cowboys anymore.

Jason Garrett to stay with Dallas Cowboys

I’m not sure how Jerry did it, but Jason Garrett is going to stay with Dallas Cowboys:

After going through second interviews with Baltimore and Atlanta, and having been offered the Ravens’ job earlier in the week, Garrett has decided to continue his work as the Cowboys’ offensive coordinator, according to sources.

Nice work, Jerry! I think we all know that Garrett is the future HC of the Cowboys. Hopefully the ‘Boys can have a repeat offensive performance next year, with some improvement in December.

Edit:  Garrett was made assistant head coach, and it is rumored he is receiving a $3 million/year contract, making him the highest paid assistant head coach in the NFL.
